A DECADE OF DECADENCE
Harley riders from across Europe gathered at the Golfe de St-Tropez to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the ever-popular and hotly anticipated season-opening event – the Harley-Davidson® Euro Festival.
Many thousands of riders and guests gathered at the beautiful Prairies de la Mer beach site for what is arguably the most stylish event in the Harley-Davidson calendar. Sunshine by day saw riders making the most of the incredible roads that grace southern France, while the cooler evenings were celebrated with great music on the beach bar from bands including Swedish rock legends Europe and French heroes Shaka Ponk.
The lights of chic St-Tropez across the bay always provide a beautiful backdrop to the Euro Festival, reminding festival attendees that this is one of the most distinctive, stylish and cool events hosted by Harley-Davidson. This year's event raised the bar once again with a mix of the familiar and the new. The Saturday parade through the Provençal countryside and the town of St-Tropez itself created a cavalcade of bikes, while the hilltop village of Grimaud provided an evocative backdrop to the ever-popular Custom Bike Show. More than 100 of the best custom bikes in Europe competed for the beautiful trophies; custom show stalwart Samuele Reali of PDF Motorcycles was the deserving winner of the Best In Show prize with another achingly cool 'old-school' custom creation, taking back to Italy the incredible hand-made trophy kindly donated by bespoke jewellery makers 2-Saints. Meanwhile the hotly contested and prestigious People's Choice trophy found a new home in the hands of craftsman builder Marcel Chiva of Bucharest, Romania – Marcel's incredible bike features in the forthcoming edition of HOG® magazine. Customisation and the art of the motorcycle were on prominent display also in the Freeway Village with custom bike displays, tattooists, painters and artisans plying their trade.
On the beach site a bespoke new Dark Custom™ area and display of the 'Battle of the Kings' bikes created by the best builders in the Harley-Davidson dealer network were joined by an eclectic range of retailers and dealer outlets as well as a chill-out 'H.O.G.® Zone' exclusively for H.O.G. members. The Demo Rides area provided the perfect opportunity to test ride the full range of Harley-Davidson bikes, and the Expo allowed attendees the first opportunity to see the brand-new Roadster model as well as the new CVO Pro Street™. Event sponsors and proud partners of Harley-Davidson, fellow American icons Jeep® were once again present and providing test drives of their latest models.
Restaurants and bars for miles around the site were filled with riders making the most of the Mediterranean climate to sample the wonderful local cuisine, and in the evenings the Harley® Bar and Canopy nightclub saw revellers enjoying the Euro Festival atmosphere into the early hours of the morning.
